EPJ A is pleased to announce the appointment of new Editors-in-Chief, Prof. Silvia Leoni for the section Experimental Physics and Prof. Dario Vretenar for the section Theoretical Physics I: Nuclear Physics, while Theoretical Physics II: Hadron Physics and Quark Matter continues to be headed by Prof. David Blaschke. Both former Editors-in-Chief, Prof. Maria Jose Garcia Borge and Prof. Thomas Duguet, will remain with the journal as Managing Editors Reviews and Invited Viewpoints and Perspectives, together with Prof. Patrizia Rossi and Prof. Ulf-G. Meißner.
Silvia Leoni is Professor of Experimental Nuclear Physics at the University of Milan and INFN-Italy. She is currently spokesperson of the European project AGATA, for state-of-the-art gamma spectroscopy. Her scientific research focuses on the structure of stable and exotic nuclei located away from the valley of stability, studied using gamma and particle spectroscopy techniques, and employing reactions with stable, radioactive ion beams and intense neutron beams. Central topics are collective modes of excitations, coupling phenomena, order and chaos in the atomic nucleus and coexistence of shapes - she serves as co-spokesperson for several experiments in these areas of research.
Dario Vretenar is Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Zagreb and Head of the Nuclear Theory group. His research interests include nuclear energy density functionals, weak interactions and astrophysical applications, algebraic structure models, and nuclear fission. Among his principal contributions is the development of algebraic models for high-spin physics, applications of relativistic energy density functionals to exotic nuclear structure and weak interaction processes, prediction of novel modes of collective excitations in nuclei far from stability, description of quantum shape phase transitions in nuclei, and the development of microscopic models of fission dynamics.
